Ebonfit App

Timeline: UX Research, Content Strategy & UI Design
Role: UX/UI Designer (Research, Content Strategy, UX Writing, UI Design)
Team: Designers, developers, fitness consultants
Platform: Mobile App
EBONFIT is a personalized fitness app designed for gym enthusiasts and everyday users who struggle with generic workout plans and low motivation. The goal was to create an adaptive, encouraging, and intelligent fitness experience that evolves with users over time.
Problem Statement
Most fitness apps fail to support users beyond static plans.
Through early research, we identified key challenges:
-
One-size-fits-all workouts that don’t adapt to user goals or schedules
-
Lack of real-time guidance during workouts
-
Confusing or unclear progress tracking
-
Low motivation and high drop-off after initial use
Users wanted clarity, personalization, and emotional encouragement not pressure or rigid routines.
Research & Discovery
To understand user motivation and behavior, I conducted:
-
7 in-depth user interviews with gym-goers, beginners, and trainers
-
Persona development based on fitness goals, time availability, and mindset
-
Emotional mapping to identify moments of frustration, fatigue, and achievement
Insights
-
Users feel overwhelmed by complex fitness jargon
-
Motivation drops when progress isn’t visible
-
Encouragement matters more than aggressive coaching
This shaped both content strategy and UX decisions.

Content Strategy (Core Contribution)
I led the content strategy to ensure EBONFIT felt like a supportive coach, not a rigid trainer.
Brand Voice
Motivational, empathetic, and human like a coach who understands your limits and pushes you gently
Information Architecture
Content was structured into three clear layers:
-
Core Content: Workouts, Progress, Nutrition
-
Supportive Content: Tips, affirmations, daily goals
-
Retention Content: Streaks, challenges, milestones, smart reminders
This ensured users always knew what to do next without feeling overwhelmed.

UX Writing & Microcopy
I focused heavily on UX writing and micro-interactions, using ownership-driven CTAs and encouraging feedback to improve clarity and motivation during onboarding and workouts.
Ideation, Wireframing & Prototyping
Low-Fidelity Wireframes (Lo-Fi)
I began with low-fidelity wireframes to explore layout structure, content placement, and primary user flows without visual distractions.
Focus areas:
-
Onboarding flow
-
Workout selection
-
Progress tracking dashboard
-
AI coach interaction
Lo-fi sketches helped validate flow logic quickly and allowed for fast iteration during internal reviews.

Mid-Fidelity Wireframes (Mid-Fi)
Once the core flows were approved, I moved into mid-fidelity wireframes to define hierarchy, spacing, and interaction patterns.
Key refinements included:
-
Clear section separation for workouts, nutrition, and progress
-
Button hierarchy and CTA placement
-
Card-based layouts for readability
-
Early accessibility considerations (tap targets, contrast planning)
Mid-fi screens helped align stakeholders on structure before visual styling.

Hi-Fidelity Wireframes (Mid-Fi)
Final designs were created in high fidelity to reflect the EBONFIT brand, tone, and interaction details.
Design considerations:
-
Clean, modern UI with strong visual hierarchy
-
Motivational microcopy paired with subtle motion cues
-
Scalable components for future features
-
Consistent design system for buttons, cards, icons, and typography
Interactive prototypes were shared for usability testing and handoff to development.

Usability Testing & Iteration
Using high-fidelity prototypes, I conducted usability testing to evaluate:
-
Ease of navigation
-
Clarity of content and CTAs
-
Emotional response to language and feedback
Insights from testing informed refinements to:
-
Onboarding copy
-
Progress visualization
-
Micro-interactions and feedback states
Challenges & Solutions
Challenge: Keeping users motivated long-term
Solution: Streaks, reminders, and positive reinforcement
Challenge: Overwhelming fitness information
Solution: Bite-sized content and progressive disclosure
Challenge: Making AI feel human
Solution: Warm tone, conversational microcopy, and contextual suggestions
Impact & Outcome
-
Improved clarity and task completion during usability testing
-
Users described the app as “encouraging and personal, not robotic”
-
Established a scalable content and voice system for future features
-
Strong foundation for personalization and long-term engagement
Reflection
This project strengthened my ability to design beyond screens focusing on tone, emotion, and behavior.
It reinforced how powerful content strategy and UX writing are in shaping user experience, especially in motivation-driven products like fitness.
